This was a pretty good weekend, despite the unseasonably cold temperatures. We hit up our favorite furniture store, Room & Board, and though we didn’t buy anything we decided on a sofa to buy after we move in July.
We also saw a bunch of cool chairs! HOWEVER — We already own two cool chairs. They were my grandma’s and date back to the 1970’s, but they were barely ever sat on and so I’ve had them ever since I moved out on my own in 2006. They are in really good shape and have a nice, classic wing chair style that’s not too large or overstuffed so they fit well into smaller spaces, and they remind me a lot of the chairs we saw at Room & Board.
But they are a green velour fabric. And it’s not bad, but it’s just not great either and I don’t know how it will look with a gray couch. So I think instead of buying new chairs, we’ll invest in getting these re-upholstered. Honestly, I don’t see it being much cheaper than buying new chairs but I like to re-use things when possible and like I said they are great quality so why not.
Picture (we have two of them) (and ignore the cat toys — it’s Baxter’s world, we just live in it)
After Room & Board (and getting burgers), we hit up a cool new wine bar in Penn Quarter called Flight. Ross had already been there with some coworkers but it was my first time. I was very impressed, the service was great and we got to try some really good wines. And their poached pear dessert was delicious! I wish I had gotten a picture but instead here’s a picture of the brandy I ordered after my glass of wine.
